WHO IS EL HADJI FALLOU MBACKÉ ?

SERIGNE FALLOU MBACKÉ

 Cheikh Fallou Mbacké, whose real name is Cheikh Mouhamed Fadel Mbacké, is the second son of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.  His mother Soxna Awa Bousso belongs to a family of great scholars who gave several imams to Touba.  Cheikh Fallou was born on June 27, 1888 in Darou Salam, the anniversary of the ascension of Prophet Mouhamed (PBUH) (27th night of the month Rajab).

Education

 It was with surprising ease that from a young age, he began learning the Koran, under the guidance of his father Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba (RTA) then of Serigne Ndame Abdourahmane LO at the daara called Âlimun Xabîr, at around five  kilometers from Touba.  After Mame Thiernon Birahim, his uncle Serigne Mame Mor Diarra served as his teacher in the study of Theology.  His training in Religious Sciences was completed by the Sheikh himself, upon his return from exile.

 Another striking fact of his personality is his immeasurable devotion, his unconditional submission to the Sheikh whom he was far from considering as a father but rather as his spiritual guide, his Master.

 To understand this attachment, this almost indescribable submission, let us recall an event which took place in Khomack (in Mauritania).  One morning, the Sheikh gave a speech to his audience which can be summarized as follows: "I am neither the father, nor the brother, nor the uncle of any of you. I am a creature dedicated to the exclusive service of  God. Those of you who have chosen to accompany me on this path that I have rehabilitated, these are my sons, nephews, brothers and talibés (disciple)".

 In 1928, Serigne Mamadou Moustapha charged Serigne Fallou with making their father's wish of pilgrimage to Mecca come true, and with the same companions he had planned.

 His Khilafa

 In 1945, Serigne Fallou, who became the second caliph, immersed himself body and soul in continuing the work on the Great Mosque.  He had the great good fortune, on June 7, 1963, to inaugurate it and lead the first prayer there.
